Splitter: Symbolbild
Above: just a visual representation, not the actual report. Find details below

Dear readers and customers,

information is the currency of the current century. Demand will surpass that of oil soon enough.

As such, we are proud to announce a new product line as of now: we call them splitters!

What is a splitter?

A splitter is:
* an investment report about an NFT project
* inside, we present you on five slides in a compact and readable form if the NFT project you are interested in is worth investing
* available as PPT or PDF. Or both
* unique: you name us the NFT. We do research and analysis about it and put it into those reports
* only 99€/splitter

Why should you trust us?

You mean, despite we are an indie publishing house from inside the EU knowing the web from A to Z since 22 years now? Here’s a quick timeline:

2013/2014: we mine Bitcoin through ASICs
2014: we accept Bitcoin and support it on all our projects
2017: we get our first Ethereum address and start investing in Ether. This cryptocurrency was only worth 500-600€ at that time
2017: we launch https://kryptowiki.eu/, the one and only cryptocurrency wiki for German speaking countries (Germany, Switzerland, Austria – 100+ million native speakers here). Bitcoin was worth only 2,237€ at that specific time
Also 2017: we launch https://kryptogeld.io/, a cryptocurrency startup
2018: we launch an Android companion app for Kryptowiki. Same year: we support Ethereum and create open-source projects for it
2019: we observe the NFT market closely via https://opensea.io. We don’t own NFTs yet
2021: we own NFTs. Same year: we sell official merchandise with our NFT artwork
2022: we do splitters and sell them for 99€ per report, so you know if you should invest in an NFT or not. It’s our way to do serious NFT consultancy

Where can I get my splitter?

It’s easy, as always: just hit us up via info@aethyx.eu. Payment is possible via the usual payment methods (PayPal, Bitcoin, Ether, IBAN, etc.).

We’re AETHYX MEDIAE, we’re here to help!
Anything related about the WWW, just drop us a line!
We go ahead while others don’t know what to do!

Stay safe and hope to hear from you soon,

Dear readers and customers,

the major problem for an indie publishing house like us developing for the F/OSS environment is not what to develop next or how to innovate but how to make money out of it.

It may sound unbelievable but in the last 30 years of open source existence, to this date there doesn’t seem to be a viable business model.

So, even if it is a lot of fun and we’re proud to be part of the WWW since more than 20 years as of this year, it sounds pretty incredible and frustrating that we, as others, aren’t commercially successful.

Why is that so is up to a discussion which we now would like to share with you all. It sheds some light on the problems we and others face and also tries to find some solutions for the bigger problems we had from the open source community in being a commercial success over the last decades:

[via]

Living in pandemic times made the year 2020 the hardest so far since our founding in 2010. We’re working hard to deliver like always but it’s an open secret that to this date our work doesn’t compensate like a typical 9-5 job in the IT industry. Which is a pity but a reality we were ready to face from the beginning. Yes, we were young and stupid, ehhh, idealistic, back then.

But fear not: not every question in life needs an answer, that’s just not how reality works. With this posting we don’t want show our frustration but share some insights about the harsh business reality we and others from the open source community face on a daily basis. To be honest, if you’re not doing from your heart and not willing to create for some dozens instead of hundreds or thousands of users, you should overthink your ambition in general here. And believe us also when we say we’ll find a solution for every problem – it’s just a matter of time and it will tell us and others too that we were completely right from the start. F/OSS already runs and rules this highly technologised world, so we’ve got that going for us which is nice! 🙂

Take care, stay healthy, and enjoy your pre-Christmas times this year,

Dear readers & customers,

bit by bit we’re starting to remove all of our advertisments from our websites.

Streetart - Stop-Bar

Firstly, we never made any revenue from these. We’re serious right here.

Secondly, we never were convinced that concepts such as “Google Adsense” or “Adshot” are here to suit small indie publishers.

Thirdly, the “DSGVO” is doing its thing to make it harder for us small publishers to support big advertisement corporations as these never did comply with EU regulations and thus their code snippets are illegal, buggy & not up to date.

Fourthly, but not least: these are too old concepts and are rests of a TV and radio era. We from AETHYX MEDIAE never supported that, by the way, and thus don’t think it will be too much of a hard step for us.

As we’re living and working remotely from anywhere on this planet in the 21. century, there are more agile and end-user friendly ways of supporting websites.

Following is a list of payment options we support.

From the beginning we supported “Flattr” for example, a Swedish microdonation service which started in 2010. Through this service alone a user/reader/fan can tip our websites in an instant.

All of our websites support “Bitcoin” since 2014, a decentralised cryptocurrency from 2008/2009 which will some day (with other derivates) take over traditional, state-backed currencies. We added a button on every website we built where a user receives our donation address by a simple click of this button. Keep in mind this protocol is not officially supported by the W3C (WorldWideWebConsortium) and thus is not working in every browser or smartphone. In this case just copy our Bitcoin address please from your browser address bar and make your donation.

It’s more easier using the “Ethereum” button, if you want to spend Ether: firstly we designed and implemented this button ourselves, find the project and source code here. Secondly you will be redirected to “Etherscan.io” directly and may use an official link or a QR barcode directly to make donations.

So far these will be our current, one and only future ways of making money out of our projects.

For small indie online publishers “Google Adsense”, etc. never were an useful option. Our most popular blog project for example, gizmeo.eu, accumulates 15 readers per day at the moment and thus it never, since 2010 as this medium started, accumulated any kind of valuable revenue. So f*** that! ^^

We are heavily dependent of donations and strongly advise you to donate if you read and/or use our websites, apps & source code repositories!

Please take into consideration: as an indie publisher we never may guarantee that a medium exists for long if no one is interested in it. To this date we did so much to develop the new media ecosphere further but never got anything back to make a living. As we’re also pretty long in this game, since 1999/2000, we don’t think this will be the future we may support any longer.

GRANDS. DON’T. COME. FOR. FREE.

Keep rollin’ & take care,
the aethyx staff

Dear readers,

we at AETHYX MEDIAE believe strongly in the Ethereum project initiated by Vitalik Buterin. In fact we think it’s the hottest candidate for “Project of the 21. century”. We currently don’t know if such a contest even exists but want to support the project as of now our way.

The official logo taken from https://www.ethereum.org/assets

Thus, after implementing an option to support Bitcoin in 2014, as of now it will be possible to support AETHYX MEDIAE via Ether donations directly.

We will roll out the donation buttons on our most popular medium first, gizmeo.eu. Afterwards we will implement it here, on aethyx.eu, as well as on all our other projects onwards.

As we couldn’t find a pre-made button for our intentions we made one inhouse ourselves.

Well, two in fact, as we couldn’t decide for the naming. So one of them just says ethereum, the other says donate ether, both in using the official font “Print clearly” which we found out via reddit here.

We also decided to share both buttons with the world. ^^

You can download them here as well find an official README.md document: https://gitlab.com/aethyx/opensource/tree/master/Ethereum%20buttons.

Features:

  • using official font “Print clearly”
  • official Ethereum logo, it’s just a resized version to fit the button
  • official background colour #ECF0F1
  • beveled button
  • two versions available
  • *.png file extension
  • size 110x20px
  • CC BY-SA 4.0

We tried hard to stick to the official visual identity guideline as much as possible.

We hope you enjoy! Made with <3 in Europe!

All the bestest,
the aethyx staff

The TOR Project announced on December the 17th 2013 that they accept Bitcoins for donations [via].

We as an independent new school publishing house do this for all our projects since the beginning of the same month.

(this and other graphics freely available here)

Accepting donations has a long tradition, not only spanning the web but also for the first project we/I did back in the days: When cipha.net launched in late 2001, due to the fact that it was a non-commercial project, I as a writer found that it was a legitimate way to “earn” money via PayPal.
Things didn’t work out the way I hoped, but PayPal is still accepted there as on other older projects I did, e.g. zockerseele.com, our video games news site which still is alive and kicking today.

After that, there was a huge time gap.

In late 2012/early 2013 we also started to support Flattr, not only because it’s a great European idea and we wanted to show respect for this neat sharing-&-caring-system, but also because it is more subtle than these (often) very annoying banners hanging around on all of those websites in general.

And yeah, maybe we were also infected by the Bitcoin-Hype 2013 which will probably never happen again, but we also think it’s simply just a good thing to have a reliable cryptocurrency in existence;
it’s for the hackers and us cyberpunks as well as the whole Internet a very very interesting way of payment and we thought it is finally the time to show some respect as well.

Besides Flattr, right now the following projects support Bitcoins and we hope you will join the game too:

* aethyx.eu – Independent Semantic Online Publishing. Made in Europe.
* zockerseele.com – an independent video games weblog which started in 2005
* gizmeo.com – an independent gadget weblog
* jpcars.de – source about Japanese cars
* cipha.net – an intergalactic anthology antiquity

We included small buttons everywhere Bitcoin payments/donations are possible. And this will definitely be the case at least until 2033 when (theoretically) all 21 million bitcoins have been created.

Who knows what will happen after that. When Philospherstones (PHS) will be the next big thing tomorrow we would have no big problem to support that concept too! ^^

Fun fact: Neither Apple, nor Google or Microsoft are accepting Bitcoins yet. So we are even ahead of them. o.O N1ce.

Please donate! We love you! ♥

Only the bestest,
the aethyx staff
